Our Story

Some Stories Take a Lifetime to Tell

A lifetime of seemingly random chapters, with one common theme: magic.

the common thread

...it always starts with something we love

SeaZen didn't begin with a business plan. It grew, slowly and somewhat unexpectedly, from the things we love most.

Long before SeaZen had a name, my sister and I were already living pieces of its story. Horses and animals, beautiful places, projects and adventures we never could have planned have been part of our lives for years. Some chapters belong more to one of us than the other, but the life that is becoming SeaZen belongs to both of us.

For me, there has always been a particular pattern: the things I love and the things I know how to do have a way of finding one another. When something moves me, I want to share it. Not simply to show it to someone, but to find a way for them to experience some part of what I am feeling.

Over the years, that instinct has taken some surprising forms.

A special horse led to learning graphic design and becoming a design agency. Other horse owners loved my ads and hired me to design theirs. Ad design led to learning html and creating  websites when the internet was brand new. Website design eventually led to creating a magazine with subscribers across the globe. A love of beautiful places found its way into hospitality management and hotel design.

I dreamed of someday combining it all into a horse-themed hotel in a magical location.  And now, here in the Oregon rainforest, our dreams are merging into one.  It looks a little different than I imagined.  But horses, land, lavender, tea, hospitality, magic and more are becoming part of the same story.

The land

A Rainforest That Asks You to Listen

The property sits within a temperate rainforest on the coast of British Columbia — old-growth trees, rain-fed streams, ferns older than memory, and a canopy that filters light into something almost sacred.

The forest was not something we built around. It was something we learned to belong to. The horses understood it before we did. They move through it with an ease that took us years to find ourselves.

What grew from it

One Thing Led to Another

The lavender came because the land seemed to want it — hundreds of plants now taking root in the meadows, with more being propagated by hand each season.

The tea came from mornings in the mist, from the ritual of the cup, and from a desire to carry a little of this place into the wider world. Unicorn Glitter Tea was born from that impulse — loose-leaf blends finished with a touch of edible shimmer, as quietly magical as the horses that inspired them.

The yurts came because guests kept asking to stay. To wake up here. To hear the forest at night and find the horses waiting in the morning.

We believe some places deserve to be felt, not just visited.

SeaZen is not a resort. It is not a theme. It is a living place — shaped by decades of care, by the rhythms of horses and forest, and by the belief that wonder is not something you manufacture. It is something you make room for.

Come and See for Yourself

The horses are here. The forest is here. The kettle is on.
